Nik Wekwerth Joins db4objects as Director of Marketing
to Strengthen Focus on Embedded Systems Software
SAN MATEO, Calif., Mar. 1, 2007 - db4objects (www.db4o.com), creator of the leading open source object database db4o, today announced that Nik Wekwerth has joined the company as Director of Marketing reporting to db4objects' CEO Christof Wittig.
Mr. Wekwerth brings 18 years of experience in technology and seven in embedded software markets to db4objects. Prior to joining db4objects he was running marketing and sales at IP Infusion, a software vendor targeting network equipment OEMs and ODMs, and has held marketing and business development functions at Wind River Systems and Siemens AG. In these roles, he was instrumental in establishing strategic relationships with technology partners including Intel, IBM, Siemens, ABB, and ST Microelectronics, which makes him uniquely qualified to refine db4objects' marketing programs for the embedded system software industry while leveraging db4o's large open source usage footprint.
"We have hired an accomplished individual to scale our business in response to the fast growing demand from customers who want to embed db4o into their products," said Christof Wittig, CEO of db4objects. "Nik’s industry know-how coupled with his acute business skills is the right choice to take db4objects to the next level and drive its expansion. He thoroughly understands the complex business needs of OEMs and ODMs in addition to the more straight-forward business with end users, and we are happy to have this knowledge available to our entire management team."
"The developer community loves db4o - that was the compelling factor when deciding if I should join db4objects,” said Nik Wekwerth. “Second generation object databases are positioned to meet the stringent performance, functionality, and cost requirements of connected devices and other distributed applications. db4o is the best product in the market wrapped in a powerful open source business model. I look forward to helping grow the developer community and foster db4o's lead among native Java and .NET persistence solutions for embedded use."
